About TOOTRiS

TOOTRiS is the first and only contactless technology service provider that connects parents with high-quality child care in real time. The child care market in the USA is estimated at $99.3 billion, yet supply is at an all-time low, especially for infants and toddlers. Companies lose $4.4 billion annually because of child-care-related absenteeism alone.

TOOTRiS was founded to change that by creating an ecosystem that guarantees availability of around-the-clock, affordable, high-quality child care. They approached us to bring their vision into reality.

Parents, providers, and employers each needed a different product

TOOTRiS needed a platform that could serve multiple stakeholders (parents, child care providers, and employers), each with very different needs:

Parents needed contactless visits, on-demand scheduling by location, and bank-grade security for their children's data
Child care providers needed tools to manage licensing, enrollment, scheduling, payments, and parent communication
The platform had to handle real-time geo-location search, biometric check-in/out, and HIPAA-compliant data handling
Web, Android, and iOS applications all needed to work together as one system

Nothing like this existed before. Every feature had to be conceptualized, designed, and built from scratch.

A web platform, native iOS and Android apps, and contactless check-in

We developed a web application using .NET and AngularJS hosted on AWS, along with native mobile applications for Android (Kotlin, Java) and iOS (Swift). We also built a CMS platform for educational content delivery.

For parents: Interactive map-based search, virtual daycare tours, real-time slot availability, on-demand scheduling, contactless check-in/out, live video streaming, interactive messaging, and secure payment processing.

For providers: License compliance management with self-assessment tools, enrollment and capacity management, two-way messaging with parents, payment collection, business finance tools, and turn-key curriculum kits for different age groups.

Security: Multi-factor authentication, biometric scanners for check-in/out (later replaced with contactless technology during COVID), HIPAA security standards, and bank-grade encryption across all data.

Both teams wore every stakeholder's hat before writing code

Given the scope and novelty of the project, we used agile methodology with continuous feedback loops. Both teams wore different hats to understand the journey and pain areas of every stakeholder. The web application served as the foundation, with the mobile applications consuming data from it. In the final phase, all touchpoints were brought together into one cross-channel experience.

Tens of thousands of parents book child care in real time

TOOTRiS launched across multiple cities with pre-registrations from parents and child care providers, and partnerships with regional corporations, local and state governments, associations, and military leaders. Every day, tens of thousands of parents use TOOTRiS to find affordable, high-quality, and secure child care.

We continue to work with TOOTRiS to enhance the platform and expand into new markets.
